Before the Tan (1-2 days before)
Exfoliate with an oil-free scrub and moisturize 24-48 hours before your tan, and pay special attention to drier spots like your elbows, knees, and ankles. Avoid moisturizers with heavy oils or petroleum.
Wax/shave at least 48 hours before your tan, giving your pores plenty of time to close. If you wax/shave any earlier than 24 hours before your tan, we cannot guarantee a perfect result as you may develop tiny dark spots from the solution attaching itself to your open pores.
Get your manicure and pedicure done 24-48 hours before you tan.
Avoid using bar soaps (ex. Dove or Olay), high pH shower products or in-shower moisturizers.
Day of Service
Please do not apply any lotions, oils, deodorant, perfumes, or makeup the day of your tan. Your skin should be completely clean and bare.
Wear dark and loose clothing and shoes, even if we come to your home with our mobile service.
Immediately After Service
Do not get wet or sweat during your tan’s development time.
Avoid skin-on-skin contact so your tan stays exactly where it was sprayed down (you may need to sleep in loose PJs if getting a service in the late evening).
Do not use any soaps or body wash during your first rinse - just shower in plain water until it rinses clear.
Don’t worry if you notice any dark areas around creases in your neck, underarms, elbows or knees - this is just the initial bronzer that will blend in and wash off after showering.
Don’t worry if you notice a green tint around your underarms or neck. This is the DHA in the solution reacting with any leftover deodorant or sweat, and it will wash off during your first rinse.
If you received a Rapid tan, please follow the appropriate 1-4 hour rinse instructions by your sunless consultant for your desired degree of darkness. The bronzer will rinse off in your first shower, but your color will continue to develop for 24 hours.
Do not use any moisturizer or body lotions for 24 hours after your first rinse.
Maintaining Your Tan
Your tan will continue to develop for 24 hours.
To keep your tan looking beautiful for the full 7-10 days, limit exfoliating and body washes with sulfates, mineral oil, and petroleum.
If you need to shave, try using conditioner to keep the blade running smoothly against the skin.
Avoid massages and pedicures - anything that can break down your tan.
Avoid long, hot showers and baths.
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! (Use petroleum-free and oil-free products)
Don’t forget to continue to wear sunscreen to protect your skin outdoors, but stick to an oil-free formula.
